Ayurveda- Yoga Treatments


Durations
 
The traditional Ayruvedic treatments are based on the dosha of the body and
season.  These treatments come from the Ayurvedic method of Kerala, India.  
Please note for Ayurvedic Oil Treatments: your skin may be slightly moist with
oil after the treatment, so please bring appropriate clothing (fabric that can be
washed).
 



AY-1

Abhyanga (Ayurveda massage): Comes from panchakarma* treatment of
Traditional Indian Ayurveda.  It is a  full body massage treatment including
head, face and body; performed with
dosha* based warm oils that are applied
 with soothing and relaxing strokes; plenty of oil is used for balancing the
excess
vata dosha of the body. This treatment provides deep relaxation,
detoxification and may improve quality of sleep.  Included is seven to ten
minutes rest at the end.

AY- 2

Pinda* Swedana: This special kind Ayurvedic deep tissue massage  
accompanied with a sachet of rice which has been cooked in Ayurvedic herbs.
This "kizhi" is rhythmically pounded on your body to help the skin absorb the
herbs. It is one of the treatments used in
panchakarma* to reduce muscle
tensions.

AY-3

Uduvartana:  To cleanse excess oil from the skin of the body, herbal dust
and water or milk is massaged into the torso and limbs.  After the treatment
there will be an herbal pack with neem  to cleanse the skin, and soak for ten
minutes of rest.  At the end of the treatment the skin it stimulated with a hot
herbal towel compression. It is one of the treatments in
panchakarma*

Shiro- Dhara:   A continuous flow of herbalized  oil/mixture poured slowly and
gently across the forehead, soothing and balancing the nervous system, this
treatment is one of the most beneficial  and relaxing and that offers the
experience of peace on the body, mind and soul. Ten minutes rest is included
at the end of the treatment. This also one of the treatments from
panchakarma*

Shirobyangam (Head and Shoulder Massage): A hydrating scalp
treatment with Ayurvedic techniques engage
marma* points on the scalp and
shoulder with special herbal, organic oils. The treatment includes head,
shoulder, forehead and neck massage. The treatment completes with warm
towel balancing
marma* rub.

Back Kama: one of the best stress relieving treatment that concentrates on
the full back (from feet to neck) or half back (hip to neck). We use Abhyanga
strokes to massage the body. (on request hot stone or pinda swedana will be

Mantra* Massage: Our therapist will chant ancient mantras* to enhance the
spiritual effect of massage. The massage technique used is Ayurvedic
Abhyanga. this treatment help you to clean your aura and build a protection
from the negative energy. The treatment conclude with a
Aarathy pooja ( fire
cleansing) and Avagaha herbal aromatic bath. One day prior notice needed
for the arranging the treatment settings.

Abyangam Massage (four hand treatment): Our well trained two therapists
performs this unique combination of Ayurvedic Abhyanga massage. It is a
unique experience of Golden Green Spa. Before starting the treatment we

therapists can arrange the room and oils.

Ayurvedic Reflexology: Specialized deep tissue massage addressing
marmas*  in the hands or feet; stimulating neuromuscular points that are linked
to other areas and organs of the body.  The massage is given with warm
herbal oils. Suitable for all ages and may bring relief to a wide range of acute
and chronic conditions.  Many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the
mind, body and counteracting stress.

Aromatherapy: (Ayurvedic aromatherapy)  Essential oils are selected for
your specific needs. The first treatment will begin with a 20 min consultation
about understanding your needs and requirements.  An Abhyanga swedanam
(Abhyangam with towel compression) is given in the spa to open receptivity to
the aromas to the body. You will receive ayurvedic home living instruction and
a small bottle of your personalized oil for your home use.   To keep the effect
of this treatment for a longer time, we recomend you follow the instructions
which you receive after your treatment to use the aroma oils at home.

* Definitions The Sanskrit word meanings *
  Ayurveda: Comes from two words. Ayur means "age" or "life." Veda means "knowledge," "wisdom," "science," and book."  
Ayurveda is then "the science of aging" or "the knowledge of health."  Ayurveda is described in the 5000 years old Vedas
manuscripts in India. It is considered the mother form of all healing techniques, including modern medicine.

Yoga: the act of uniting opposites. Pathanjali Yoga Sutra is the basic book of yoga, described how a man can live with out
any problems and diseases. This book also part of Vedas of India.
  Panchakarma: Five actions; these are five different treatments used in ancient Ayurveda to rejuvenate and detoxify the
body. Traditionally they take a week, or several, to treat the body with diet and yogic living under the guidance of a
Ayurvedic vaidya (doctor).

Pinda: (adjective) heavy, solid, hard, thick

Chakra: Energy wheels located on different part of the body, part of kundalini yoga, seven chakras are the main chakras is
mentioned.

Marma: Special vital points or pressure points. Marma discussed in Ayurveda and Kalari (the mother form of all martial arts
from ancient India.

Mantra: chanting sacred words with awareness and the holding the meaning of the powerful words with good intention.

Chandan: Sandal wood which is used for all the spiritual practice and some kind of the Ayurvedic treatments.

Dosha (Thri - dosha): In Ayurveda the body is made of 5 elements. The doshas are combinations of the five elements.  
The three doshas are: Vata (air and ether) Pitta (fire and water) Kapha (water and earth).The balance and imbalance of
these makes a person healthy or dis-at-ease.  The technique of bringing the elements into balance allows a person heal.
